The essentials
Here is a brief description of rhenium.
- Standard state: solid at 298 K
- Colour: greyish white
- Classification: Metallic
- Availability:
rhenium is available in many forms including foil, powder, ribbon, rod, and wire.

Small and large samples of rhenium foil like this, as well as wire, can be purchased from Advent Research Materials via their web catalogue.
Rhenium is silvery white with a metallic lustre; its density is exceeded only by that of platinum, iridium, and osmium, and its melting point is exceeded only by that of tungsten and carbon. It has other useful properties. It is expensive but useful as a trace alloying agent.
