Product Description

This Molyorbital™ orbital set contains sufficient parts to make 14 easy to self-assemble atomic orbitals. It is ideal for learning about the shapes  and orientations of atomic orbitals. Pink and purple coloured pear shaped lobes represent the + and – wave equation phases of the p and d atomic orbitals. The atomic nuclei are represented by opaque white spheres. Each model comes with its own individual colourless transparent base for display purposes. Approximate model heights including base are: s-orbital 5cm, p-orbital 9cm, and d-orbital 8cm.

Contents of the Molyorbital atomic orbitals kit

The contents are contained within a plastic storage box. The 81 components are enough to make the following models

  • 1s orbital
  • 2s orbital
  • the three 2p orbitals
  • the five d-orbitals
  • a model showing the unhybridised s and three 2p orbitals
  • the two sp hybrid orbitals
  • the three sp2 hybrid orbitals
  • the four sp3 hybrid orbitals
