This pack contain 10 blue balls representing nitrogen atoms, for instance, and the diameter of each atom is 23 mm. Each atom has four holes arranged at 109.5° (tetrahedral) meaning four bonds may be represented. If you want to make only two bonds (as in NH2–) or three bonds (as in ammonia for instance) we also supply blue 2- and 3-hole atoms with the holes appropriately positioned.
Why would I need these? You could use them to represent a nitrogen atom in a compound such as NH4+ in which the HNH angles are 109.5°.
This pack is for extending an existing set or for replacing lost parts.
The Molymod® system is the original, unique, dual-scale system of high quality low-cost molecular models. These enormously popular sets are ideal for students but are also used by scientists all over the world.
