Erbium: uses

The following uses for erbium are gathered from a number of sources as well as from anecdotal comments. I would be delighted to receive corrections as well as additional referenced uses.

  • nuclear industry
  • metallurgical uses. Added to vanadium, for example, erbium lowers hardness and improves workability
  • erbium oxide is pink and is a colourant in glasses and porcelain enamel glazes
  • photographic filter
