unstable heavy elements
Submitted by Anonymous on 27 May 2007 - 7:28pm.Mark- I just looked up Rutherfordium to see what is being said about these "research-special atoms". Of course, not much to say, since one only gets a few at a time and they decay in less than a second so there isn't time to do much chemical experimenting with them. I'd like it if something to that effect was said on the Web-Elements pages for elements like this. Maybe a short boilerplate like: "No uses, due to nearly instantaneous radioactive decay." That way you don't have to look up (for each one) up how many orders of magnitude less than a second it takes to vanish.

Left-step or Janet form of the Periodic table and Question of best form of the table
Submitted by bloggoman on 21 November 2006 - 9:10am.What do people think of the Janet periodic table which is endorsed on WebElements as well as Eric Scerri's new book on the Periodic Table, (OUP, 2006) ?
Do people agree with Scerri's claim that there really might be a 'best form' of the periodic table even though we may now have discovered it yet.
Another way of saying this is should we be realists about chemical periodicity or is it just a matter of convention in which case there is no 'best table'.

ION Values
Submitted by Anonymous on 12 July 2006 - 5:51am.I am a first year chemistry student attempting to prepare myself for the class 2 months early on my own, so please forgive my basic question...
I am attempting to find a chart that will tell me all the ion charges of each element so I can be able to balance them easier when it come to problems....maybe I am not figuring this out right but I am using prof Zumdahl's text on Chemistry and throughout Chapter 2 he gives us the value of various elements and has us figure out the other value....I want to know how does one know the ionic value of each element
Thanks
Dennis
