The periodic table and the elements

Origin of elements

Somebody: I've been wondering. If simple elements formed together to begin the Universe as we know it, where did the elements come from? For example, I noticed someone asked this question and got the answer, "from stars"...Well, where did the star come from, and back and back to a non-existent beginning. How can anything be a beginning?

error in units

The units of resistivity don't come out right.

10^-8 Ohm * m
or
m Ohm * cm

the 'm' should be a 'mu', but unfortunately they both look the same in the latin alphabet.

Black holes

What happens to an atom, any atom, when it meets the singularity at the center of a black hole?

Mistake in the Context of Bromum

The "formal oxidation state" of bromum in each page for its six compounds is wrong. The formal oxidation state should not be -1, and corresponding formal electronic configuration are also mistaken.
May anyone here correct it?

Article on the Periodic Table in American Scientist

There is an article on the Periodic Table in the current issue of American Scientist Magazine (Jan-Feb, 2008) issue), by Dr. Eric Scerri from UCLA and a frequent contributor to this forum.

He is also the author of the best-selling, The Periodic Table, Its Story and Its Significance, published by Oxford University Press, 2007.

Among other things, Dr. Scerri proposes a new form for the periodic table in the article.

I understand from Dr. Scerri that he is willing to send pdf copies of the article to anyone who sends him an E-mail message requesting one.

What is "Atomic Iodine"? I^-1 or I2 ?

stoichiometry problem help please :)

The Copyright

I've translated the contents of hydrogenium and helium into simplified Chinese from your site but not published on anywhere. I want to get the permission from the author in order to submit it on the Internet. Could I?

Error: Ac crystal structure

Looking up the reference for the Ac crystal structure I noticed that the lattice constant is wrong. The correct lattice constant is
531 pm
The lattice constant given now is the lattice constant for actinium hydride from the same paper.

Lead and Lightning

I havea question about something that happened to me. rather happened to a wind generator that I constructed in my backyard. it involved the lead packing around the generator shaft and a direct lighning strike.
One night shortly after Iput the generator up, I was up duing a thunderstorm watch it between flashes of lightningand it took a direct hit. Iwas surprised by the power of the strike, three distinct bolts hit the aluminum (4ft dia) rotor and the shaft. Two hit the tips of the blades and one hit the shaft directly on the rotor end.
