R-MgBr is grignard reagent, yes. Essentiall making "R-" which will attach an electron deficient carbon.
"Acet" is a non-systematic particle which means "derivated from acetic acid", you know, vinegar acid. So, there is a whole family of "acet"-ed compounds:
* Acetic acid: CH3-CO-OH
* Acetic anhidrid: CH3-CO-O-OC-CH3
* Acetate: CH3-CO-O(-)
* Acetyl group: -CO-CH3
* Acetyl halogenide: CH3-CO-X
* Acetaldehyde: CH3-CO-H
* Acetamine: CH3-CO-NH2
