i need help with an acetic question. its is... would you expect the ph of 0.25 M acetic acid to be higher or lower than the ph of 0.25 M hydrochloric acid solution? and why?

Higher. The pH of an aqueous solution is given by
pH = -log[H+],
where [H+] is the concentration of H+ ions (protons). Because acetic acid is a weaker acid than hydrochloric acid, the 0.25 M solution of acetic acid would contain a lower concentration of H+ ions than the 0.25 M solution of hydrochloric acid. Hence, the relationsip above implies that the pH of the acetic acid solution is higher than the pH of the hydrochloric acid solution.
Would you like a more mathematically rigorous explanation for this?
