Functionalized graphene oxide for fire safety applications of polymers: a combination of condensed phase flame retardant strategies

Functionalized graphene oxide (FGO) catalyzes the char formation of polystyrene (Char A). FGO was protected by Char A from burning out and then acted as a graphitic char (Char B). The fire safety properties of the composites are obviously improved due to the combination of Char A, Char B and other factors.
