The oxidation of allylic and benzylic alcohols to the corresponding carboxylic acids is effected by merging a Cu-catalyzed oxidation using O2 as a terminal oxidant with a subsequent chlorite oxidation (Lindgren oxidation).

Host-guest complexation induced emission: a pillar[6]arene-based complex with intense fluorescence in dilute solution

A host-guest inclusion complex was constructed from a water-soluble pillar[6]arene and a tetraphenylethene derivative in water and it exhibited strong fluorescence in dilute solution. Furthermore, such a complex acted as a "turn-off" fluorescent sensor for paraquat via the competitive host-guest complexation.
