The aggregate morphology of a novel CO2-responsive pillar[5]arene in water was reversibly controlled between toroid-like assemblies and irregular aggregates by bubbling CO2 and N2 repeatedly. Furthermore, this pillar[5]arene self-assembled into micelles after the treatment with HCl.
