The thiocarbamoylation of internal alkynes to produce tetrasubstituted [small beta]-aminocarbonyl vinyl sulfides was demonstrated using a nickel catalyst. This reaction was successful with a wide variety of substituents, and gave the syn-adducts exclusively.
