The bismuth(III) complexes of acetylsalicylate (aspirinate), [Bi(asp)3] (minimum inhibitory concentration against H. pylori, 6.25 [small mu ]g mL-1) and [KBi(asp)4], are formed and crystallised without deacetylation or hydrolysis from treatment of aspirin with Bi(OtBu)3 and Bi(OtBu)3/KOtBu respectively.
