The first example of chiral secondary amine and iridium(I) co-catalyzed enantioselective three-component reaction of aryldiazoacetates, indoles and enals was rationally designed and developed to afford 3-substituted indoles in good yields and with excellent enantioselectivity.

A method for cobalt(III)-catalyzed alkenylation of arenes and 6-arylpurines has been developed. This reaction takes place under mild conditions with only equivalent terminal alkynes in high yields. A mitochondria-targeted imaging dye was simply prepared through this method.

Ambient light stable 3-trifluoromethyl-3-aryldiazirine photolabels were designed, synthesized and evaluated. In addition to the enhancement to ambient light stability, the modified photolabels were equally efficient in labeling biological targets. The new photolabels also increase the aqueous solubility of the photoaffinity labels by several folds.
