Unusual anti-selectivity was observed in the chiral amine-catalyzed conjugate addition of aldehydes to nitroalkenes, and anti-adducts were obtained as major diastereomers in excellent enantioselectivity by use of a biphenyl-based chiral secondary amine (S)-3 as catalyst.

Outstanding luminescence from neutral copper(I) complexes with pyridyl-tetrazolate and phosphine ligands

Strongly luminescent, neutral Cu(I) complexes bearing 5-(2-pyridyl)tetrazolate and various phosphine ligands were synthesized. While the cationic counterparts do not exceed photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQY) of 4-46%, the neutral Cu(I) complexes show PLQYs of up to 89%.
