A novel tetranuclear manganese(II/III) complex with anions of pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (dipicolinic acid) has been synthesised and magneto-structurally characterised. The crystal structure of [MnII2MnIII2(dipic)6(H2O)4][middle dot]2CH3OH[middle dot]4H2O has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

A series of novel chiral ruthenium(II) complexes with phenolic hydroxyl groups were demonstrated to be efficient dual poisons of topoisomerase I and II[small alpha]. These complexes induced the apoptosis of cancer cells through a DNA damage-mediated p53 signaling pathway.

The reduction of the Pt(IV) complexes [PtCl4(bipy)], [PtCl4(dach)] and [PtCl4(en)] by glutathione (GSH), L-cysteine (L-Cys) and L-methionine (L-Met) was investigated by stopped-flow spectrophotometry at pH 2.0 (in 0.01 M perchloric acid) and at pH 7.2 (in 25 mM Hepes buffer).
