Non-heme iron complexes were determined to serve as homogeneous water oxidation catalysts when driven with sodium periodate. Both mononuclear and dinuclear complexes were found to be active for water oxidation, with the monomeric species exhibiting higher rates.

Increasing steric hindrance to the pyridazine rings of 3,6-di(2-pyridyl)pyridazine leads to the self-assembly of [2 [times] 2]-grids with hydrogen bonding clips in place of triple helicates, these represent new supramolecular motifs for this series of ligands with zinc.
