Hemi- and holo-directed lead(II) complexes in a soft ligand environment

Structures and stereochemical activity of the lone pairs at the lead ion were investigated by synthetic, spectroscopic and structural studies of ten lead(II) complexes with heterocyclic soft ligands. The majority of the complexes exhibited a hemi-directed environment around the lead ions.

Interaction of kiteplatin with S-donors is investigated. Kiteplatin-glutathione adducts can further react with 5[prime or minute]-GMP in presence of O2. This unique reaction may account for its activity toward oxaliplatin-resistant colon cancer.
