Substrate and product role in the Shvo's catalyzed selective hydrogenation of the platform bio-based chemical 5-hydroxymethylfurfural

The Shvo's catalyzed selective hydrogenation of HMF to BHMF showed substrate and product effects on the reaction rate. DFT calculation suggested the formation of several intermediates influencing the catalytic cycle.

A dual-responsive green-light-emitting supramolecular metal hydrogel (G-gel) was prepared by the reaction of a simple hydrazide-functionalized benzimidazole ligand (L) with Tb(NO3)3. Remarkable reversible sol-gel transitions induced by temperature or pH can be observed for this G-gel.

Anthracene doped with potassium in 1 : 1 and 2 : 1 stoichiometries were successfully prepared and their physical properties were studied. Our results demonstrated the tuning of the ground state in a typical bulk hydrocarbon.
