The high pressure behavior of TaON was studied using a combination of Raman scattering, synchrotron X-ray diffraction, and X-ray absorption spectroscopy in diamond anvil cells to 70 GPa at ambient temperature to reveal evidence for a new structural transformation near 30 GPa.

Electrochemical and chemical reduction of [(FeL)2([small mu ]-OH)]BPh4 revealed disproportionation followed by proton transfer, and [(FeL)2([small mu ]-O)] was formed upon exposure to oxygen.

Two metal borates, Ba[MB4O8(OH)][middle dot]H2O (M = Al, Ga), with 3-D porous layers have been synthesized under hydro(solvo)thermal conditions, in which two MB4O11(OH) half-units link via Al-O-Al linkages to form the dimeric M2B8O20(OH)2 cluster unit. These clusters further connect with each other to form 3-D porous layers.
