Four discrete lanthanide ions have been incorporated in a nanosized supramolecular grid by using a rigid bi-Schiff base ligand. The intermetallic magnetic coupling has been significantly weakened due to the large separation of Ln(III) ions.

Nickel bromides (Ni1-Ni5) and bi-metallic nickel halides (Ni2-1-Ni2-6) (see opposite) are highly active ethylene polymerization catalysts upon activation with Et2AlCl or MAO. The bi-nuclear complexes exhibited a positive synergetic effect.
