The synthesis and application of novel Ni(II) N-alkyl dipyridylaldiminato complexes as selective ethylene oligomerisation catalysts

A series of dinuclear Cl-bridged Ni(II) complexes, 1a-1e, ligated by N-alkyl 2,2[prime or minute]-dipyridylamine ligands displayed high activity in ethylene oligomerisation, when activated with alkyl aluminium reagents. Steric and electronic effects as well as activation pathways were found to have a significant impact on catalyst activity and selectivity.

The histidine-rich sequence from the loop between tansmembrane domains (TMDs) III and IV of ZIP transporters binds all studied metal ions with different geometries and with stability increasing in the series Ni2+ < Zn2+ [double less-than] Cu2+; a high specificity for Zn2+ is observed.
