Estimating the strength of the M-H-B interaction: a kinetic approach
DOI: 10.1039/C3DT50813G, CommunicationMuhammad Sohail, Salvador Moncho, Edward N. Brothers, Donald J. Darensbourg, Ashfaq A. Bengali
Photolysis of BzCr(CO)3 and TpMn(CO)3 in the presence of H3B[middle dot]NEt3 yields a metal-borane [sigma] complex. Displacement of the weakly coordinated borane by P(OEt)3 proceeds by a dissociative mechanism and an Eyring analysis yields the first estimate of 20 kcal mol-1 for the strength of this bond.

Stepwise replacement of nickel with cobalt ions in a [Ni6] cluster
DOI: 10.1039/C3DT50429H, CommunicationGraham N. Newton, Hiroki Sato, Takuya Shiga, Hiroki Oshio
Polydentate ligands were used to support planar methoxo-bridged open cubane-type {Ni6-xCox} (x = 0, 1 or 2) clusters. The {Ni6} complex showed overall ferrimagnetic interactions, while increasing the cobalt content resulted in a proportional enhancement of the magnetic ac response.
