The electrochemical oxidation of a Ni(II) tri-arylporphyrin leads to the 5-Cl and 5-OH-porphyrins, the meso-meso, meso-[small beta] and meso-[small beta]/meso-[small beta] doubly fused dimers depending on the experimental conditions. Among them, the Ni(II) 5-Cl-porphyrin is isolated in good yield and its formation mechanism is elucidated.

The reactivity of a Zr(IV)-substituted Wells-Dawson POM towards the flexible 30-mer polypeptide, oxidized insulin chain B, was examined. Hydrolysis of the polypeptide has been achieved at physiological pH and temperature in a fast (0.45 h-1) and selective manner.

The new isostructural oxohalides [Sb4O7+3[small delta]X4][Zn3]1+[small delta] (X = Cl, Br, I), [small delta] [approximate] 0.2 have a composite structure, in which the Zn atoms are best described in a second-unit cell. The composite nature of the structure leads to a charge imbalance that is compensated by oxygen vacancies.

A palladium-catalyzed ortho-acylation of 2-benzyl-1,2,3-triazoles with aldehydes as an acyl source was developed. A wide variety of ketones containing 1,2,3-triazoles were obtained in good to excellent yields. This methodology provides a convenient access to the acylation of 2-substituted-1,2,3-triazoles.

A practical and efficient strategy for the N-arylation of benzamide catalysed by a Co(C2O4)[middle dot]2H2O/dmeda system in water is reported. Under the optimized conditions, a wide variety of N-arylated products were obtained in good yields (up to 92%) using substituted aryl iodides.
