The in situ reaction of the tripodal anion [EtAl(MePy)3]- (MePy = 6-Me-2-py) with SnCl2 gives the Janus-head ligand (MePy)3Sn-Sn(MePy)3, containing a Sn-Sn bond, through a novel, one-pot reaction involving a combination of pyridyl transfer and metal-oxidation.

The electrochemical oxidation of a Ni(II) tri-arylporphyrin leads to the 5-Cl and 5-OH-porphyrins, the meso-meso, meso-[small beta] and meso-[small beta]/meso-[small beta] doubly fused dimers depending on the experimental conditions. Among them, the Ni(II) 5-Cl-porphyrin is isolated in good yield and its formation mechanism is elucidated.

The new isostructural oxohalides [Sb4O7+3[small delta]X4][Zn3]1+[small delta] (X = Cl, Br, I), [small delta] [approximate] 0.2 have a composite structure, in which the Zn atoms are best described in a second-unit cell. The composite nature of the structure leads to a charge imbalance that is compensated by oxygen vacancies.
