LiHSrTa2O7 undergoes a reversible structural transition from an orthorhombic to a tetragonal symmetry around 200 [degree]C. This transition, from acentric to centric space group, is revealed especially by the vanishing of the SHG signal.

Li2B3PO8 crystallizes in a triclinic cell (space group P[1 with combining macron], Z = 8) and consists of sheets formed by the linkage of triangular BO3 and tetrahedral BO4 and PO4 groups. The sheets are stacked along the b-axis. Li2B3PO8 is the first example of a borophosphate, having a two-dimensional network structure of triangular BO3 and tetrahedral BO4 and PO4.

A novel type of C4 cumulene derivative featuring 4-pyridylidene units has been synthesized. X-ray diffraction analysis and computational studies revealed the presence of consecutive C[double bond, length as m-dash]C double bonds in the C4 backbone as well as the quinoidal pyridylidene structures.

A trend of increasingly more negative zero-field splitting parameters D was observed for a series of pseudo-tetrahedral mononuclear cobalt complexes, Co(L)2I2 (1-3) (L = quinolone, PPh3 or AsPh3) in going down the group from N to P and As (1 = +9.2 cm-1, 2 = -36.9 cm-1 and 3 = -74.7 cm-1) with 2 and 3 exhibiting slow relaxation of the magnetization under an applied DC field.
