Two microporous Cd-MOFs were synthesized in mixed solvents of DMF or DMA and H2O, with formula {[Cd3(L)(H2O)2(DMF)2][middle dot]5DMF}n (1) and {[Cd3(L)(dib)][middle dot]3H2O[middle dot]5DMA}n (2). The luminescent properties of the two compounds well dispersed in different solvents have also been investigated systematically, demonstrating a unique selectivity for the detection of acetone via a fluorescence quenching mechanism.

Functionalized graphene oxide (FGO) catalyzes the char formation of polystyrene (Char A). FGO was protected by Char A from burning out and then acted as a graphitic char (Char B).
