Diethylzinc has yielded interesting and often puzzling reactivity for over 165 years. Herein, we demonstrate the preparation of well-defined structures composed of alkali metal oxides surrounded by diethylzincs.

Oligonucleotides modified with C5-amino acid LNA uridine result in highly thermostable duplexes, with excellent discrimination of single nucleotide mismatches. Additionally, these ONs are inert toward 3[prime or minute]-exonuclease degradation.

A facile route to aryl N-aminosulfonamides under mild conditions is provided. The reaction of aromatic amines (including heteroaromatic amines), sulfur dioxide, and hydrazines proceeds efficiently with good functional group tolerance. The in situ generated diazonium ion is involved in the aminosulfonylation process.
