organic chem

1.The property of simple molecular structure is that it is insoluble in water. But alkanols are simple molecular structure, then why it is soluble in water? ester has electronegative atom(O),but why it is insoluble in water?

2.Can alkene oxidized by potassium dichromate? and can alkanol oxidized by potassium permanganate?
