Cobalt Chloride and Water

Hi there
I am doing a lab with, I believe, cobalt chloride and H2O. We have to write our own procedure, and I believe the goal is to, using molar masses and whatnot, determine the ratio of hydrates to cobalt chloride or something. When they are added together, I think I was told it made a pink crystal or something. Just need to know how to figure this out, and some help with the procedure would be super too...

Thanks

All help appreciated
