How many calories are required to raise the temperature of 225g of water from 42C to 75C ?

Look up the definition of a "calorie",
then you will be well on the way to finding your answer....

Calorie means...
The energy required to make a gram of (liquid) water raise its temperature 1'C.

Therefore... answer for jewels' question...
The temperature change
=72-45
=27'C

The energy required
=27Cal*225(grams of water to be heated)

6075 Calories (usually said as 6.075Kcal) will be enough.
